All New Redesigned Audi A8 L TDI
Audi A8 L TDI gets a standing ovation, if you’re in the passenger seat that is. After all the car experts poured over this newly redesigned Audi many believe the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) feature is just the spacious back-seats. Graham Kosak for autoweek.com says “Despite the front-seat massagers, it’s not really for a driver, either; I imagine Audi is hoping to woo Chinese gazillionaires and the motor pool managers of major international monetary organizations with this imposing extended-wheelbase cocoon-on-wheels. This is, after all, the sort of vehicle you’re driven in.”
After all the glitz there are some seriously convenient and helpful additions to this car (besides the seat massager, of course!). Personally, I’m a big fan of the diesel fuel economy and I’m not alone. “The A8L’s class-leading 36 mph on the highway means that a full tank (23.8 gallons) will last for more than 800 miles. EPA lists mpg at 24 city/28 combined, compared to 21 combined for the 2012 V-8″ reads one review from the Chicago Tribune. But according to them this does seem to compromise the acceleration “the 0-60 mph time is a second slower than the 2012 A8 with the 4.2-liter V-8 gas engine.”
Ultimately it does seem like saving on gas is the new hype for luxury cars. Wink wink, maybe time for a Tesla? Although Tesla is still a whole new world. When comparing the two, hypbridcars.com sums it up pretty well “In exchange for not having to find a public charger, and double-to-triple the range, Audi’s aluminum-bodied executive express is particularly well suited to long-distance drivers, offering a rarified experience of its own, albeit while still burning fuel.”
If you’re looking for some cool (maybe even over the top) gadgets then this is your go-to. With an extensive comfort seat setting option, premium sound system, upgraded touchpad navigation and radio, seat massager and split-view rear view camera (includes a birds-eye view) you definitely will be kept busy. I can’t wait to see how this sells in the coming months.
